Installation#
How to install MQTT.fx and what it needs to run.
System requirements#
- A desktop operating system: macOS, Windows, or Linux.
- No separate Java installation is required for end users — the installers bundle a Java runtime.
Download and install#
Download the installer for your platform from https://www.softblade.de and run it. Installers are produced with install4j and are code-signed / notarized.
Installers are available for:
| Platform | Format |
|---|---|
| Windows | Windows installer |
| macOS | macOS application package |
| Linux | RPM and DEB packages (plus a generic Unix installer) |
First launch#
On first run, MQTT.fx:
- Creates its working directory (
MQTT-FX) under your user data folder, including thescriptsandaddonsfolders and the configuration file. See the Appendix for exact paths. - If no configuration is found, treats it as a first run and sets up a default configuration.
- Shows the licensing dialog. To evaluate without a license, start a Demo Session or request the free trial — see License and trial.
Updating#
MQTT.fx can check for updates at startup; you can turn this on or off with Check for Updates on application start in Settings, and check manually via the menu (Check for Updates).
